Weber Genesis S-330 Gas Grill

The Weber Genesis S-330 is a grill you will be proud to grill a steak on. Weber Grills have a reputation of being built with high quality materials and construction. They are built to last, and look good doing it. Some Weber grill owners claim that 10 years or more is normal for a Weber grill compared to less than 3 years for some other grills.

Main Features of the Weber Genesis S-330 Gas Grill

All Stainless Steel Construction

Weber uses high chromium stainless steel in the construction of the Genesis S330 Grill. These stainless steels contain high amounts of chromium to protect the steel from oxidizing (rusting) and corrosion. This also makes the steel non-magnetic, meaning that a magnet will not attract true stainless steels. Lower priced competitors sometimes use so-called stainless steels that contain lower amounts of chromium. The steels with lower chromium are magnetic and oxidize and corrode much faster. Technically, they are considered stainless steels, but do not provide as good of corrosion resistance as those used in the Weber Genesis. If you are curious, bring a magnet to your local grill retailer and check the different grills for yourself.

38,000 BTU’s from 3 Stainless Steel Burners

The Weber S330 has 3 stainless steel burners to give you flexibility in controlling temperatures for different foods. You can grill a steak while also cooking your veggies at the same time. Each of the 3 stainless steel burners has its own electronic ignition, giving you more flexibility when firing up the grill. Weber has also moved the controls for the burners from the top and side to the front of the grill, making adjustments much easier and with less chance of getting burned.

10,000 BTU Sear Station

The Weber Sear Station is an additional 10,000 BTU burner that provides higher temperatures to sear your meats to perfection and together with the S330’s 7mm rod cooking grates, give those sought after grill marks. According to several current owners, the grill heats up to over 500 degrees in 5 minutes and close to 700 degrees in 10 with the Sear Station turned on. Simply sear your steak for a minute or so, rotate 90 degrees, for another minute and flip the steak to do the other side. Once you have properly seared the outside (and given your steak a nice cross-hatch), simply turn off the Sear Station and move the steaks over to finish cooking with lower heat.

What do Buyers Think about the Genesis S330 Gas Grill?

They also rave about the Sear Station and its ability to sear their meats to an awesome crust, and juicy inside. In fact, one owner stated that his steaks were better than he could get at most restaurants.

Not everyone would use a rotisserie, but for those that do desire one, Weber offers a rotisserie specially designed for their Genesis grills. The Genesis 7519 Rotisserie should be available wherever you purchase your Weber S330 grill.

To start with, it has electronically igniting burners, which are safer to work with. Safety seems to be the top priority in the smart design of Q320, along with portability. The burner controls are made out of insulators to prevent heating and burning hands. Again, the lid handle is made from nice weather proof material to prevent it from heating. There is a counter weight design to avoid tilt and clamps for holding down the propane cylinder. It also comes equipped with adapter hose of fine quality.

The body is all made from steel and the lid is made of cast aluminum. The grilling grates are made from stainless steel to avoid rusting and allow easy clean. Twin grate design instead of one big grill also helps in making cleaning easier.

All the material on Weber 586002 Q 320 Portable Outdoor Propane Portable Gas Grill including the thermostat is kept simple. Even if something breaks or starts mal functioning, it can be replaced pretty easily and cheaply. Although Weber offers a five year limited warranty on all parts of Q320 portable gas grill, it is good to know that they can be easily replaced.

With regard to the new design of the Genesis E-310 where the control knobs are placed in front of the grill, one reviewer commented that he preferred the older design which had the control knobs on the right side.

Weber 386002 Q 100 Portable Propane Gas Grill

The regular stationary gas grills are great. They’re awesome and I love mine. But you know, as good as they are I can’t take them to picnics and my road trips with my family. As much as I’d like to, it just ain’t practical to drag a huge grill across the country side in my RV!

If you’re anything like me, you absolutely must barbeque on a REAL grill when you’re out on these trips with your family. Now since us crazies can’t drag that huge bulk of a grill along with us, we need something portable. Unfortunately most so called portable grills on the market today don’t deserve to be called “grills” at all!

So what about the Weber Q100 portable gas grill? Is it what we call a “real grill”? Boy do I have the answer to that! Read on for the full review on this one.

Weber 386002 Q 100 Portable Propane Gas Grill Review

Let’s start by taking a look at what the box says it does…

So it’s a reasonably sized grill with 189 sq inches of grilling area. It uses 14.1oz or 16.4oz LP cylinders for fuel. A push button ignition is supposed to make it very easy to light and a removable catch pan should make the clean up a breeze. It uses stainless steel burners that give a 8500 BTU/hour input and the cooking grate is made out of Porcelain-enameled cast-iron. You even get a Weber recipe book with your purchase. They really seem to have thought of everything you’d need in a portable propane grill.

Well all that looks real good on the surface but you and I both know that almost nothing is as good as it sounds. So lets take a deeper look into the Weber 386002 Q 100 Portable Propane Gas Grill to see if it really delivers the goods.

Weber Q 100 Portable gas Grill – Is it the real deal ?

Whenever I am doing reviews for ANY purchase, whether its for myself or for this site, the best source of REAL information is always people who have used the product before me. So to get answers to my questions about the Weber Q100, I put on my research hat and went to work.

This is what I found.

There was a problem with using the bigger 16oz sized cylinders when the baby Q came out initially but that has been fixed now so those who want to use the bigger cylinders can also do it. A 5lb propane bottle lasts a month of use if you’re using 1-2 times a week. This was more or less a universal number with most users so you can go by it safely.

Very few customers complained that the push button ignition on the Weber Q 100 does not work perfectly. I found that very few people had this complaint. Most customers were VERY happy that the Weber Q100 is so easy to light up even when a nice wind is blowing. A single click is all it takes.

The burners are stainless steel and really nice quality but they do tend to clog up after a few uses. When that happens, the burner doesn’t burn fully. Most people mentioned this but there’s a really quick fix to it. You can easily unclog it with a push pin; certainly NOT a deal breaker.

Cleaning with the catch pan isn’t as easy as it is made to sound but you can line the insides with a single layer of foil. It really helps with the cleanup.

Now 8500 BTU an hour doesn’t sound like much but this is Weber we’re talking about here… On the Weber Q100, this 8500 BTU burner is enough to cook pretty much anything after you’ve pre heated it for 7-10 minutes. If the wind is too strong it may take you a few extra minutes but it will still do a really good job at cooking.

People are cooking burgers, steaks, chicken breasts, even tri tips! However, you still won’t be able to cook a full chicken on it as the lid isn’t tall enough. In my opinion, it doesn’t matter at all because this is a portable grill which you’ll use when you’re going out; I don’t think you’re likely to cook a whole chicken on a portable grill.

The 189 sq inches that the Weber Q 100 gives you is good enough for a family of four. You can very easily fit 4 burgers on it. You can put more if you want but it will begin to get a little clumsy to manage.

The cooking grate seems to be a HUGE hit as I found absolutely NO ONE who had to say anything bad or inadequate about it. It cooks great, spreads out the heat very evenly and gives out great grill marks on the steak. Good enough to cook 1.25 inch steaks very well.

In additional to all the above, I also found that the recipe book that you get with it is actually very good, which is quite surprising actually. Most times I’ve found these books to be a waste of paper but that doesn’t seem to be the case with the Weber recipe book. People are actually raving about how it improved their cooking!

Other than things associated with the grill, I also found that the Weber customer service is very good and their reps very professional and helpful while handling customer inquiries. Something that’s not very easy to come by these days with an increasing number of companies shifting customer services to countries like India.

From all the reviews I read (I read a lot!) there is absolutely NO reason why you shouldn’t go for the Weber Q 100 Portable Gas Grill.

Weber 1520 Propane Gas Go-Anywhere Grill

Great for taking along when you go out for camping, the Weber 1520 Propane Gas Go-Anywhere Grill meets the high quality standards that have become the trademark of Weber.

Measuring 21’ x 12.3’ x 14.5’ and weighing around 15 pounds, the Weber Go Anywhere Gas Grill is a compact little grill designed specifically for portability and will fit easily in the backseat of your car.

weber go anywhere gas grillIt even has a handle at the top of the lid (and one on both the sides) so that you can carry it around. Another great thing about the handle; it doesn’t get very hot when you start the grill. It has steel pivoting legs which fold up to lock the lid in place for added safety. The lid has built in hangers so when you open up the lid it can rest on the side of the grill and it acts as wind shield.

go anywhere gas grillThe Weber Go Anywhere Gas Grill has a black body with one stainless steel burner of 10,000 BTU output, and it uses a disposable 14.1 oz LP cylinder which is not included with the grill. You have 160 square inches of cooking area on which you can fit around four medium sized steaks, so it is just right for preparing a meal for two to three people. The cooking grate is steel and the handles are made of heat and weather resistant materials. The design, however, does make it easy to push something off the grill.

It is simple to assemble the Weber Go Anywhere Gas Grill and it just takes about half an hour. It lights up easily using the push button ignition system and heats up quickly, though it is a bit slower than the regular sized grills. In some cases, there have been some problems with the heat distribution system and customers complained it does not get so hot and needs more power, but when they contacted the Weber customer service, they were sent a new regulator and then it worked like a charm heating up the grill to the required temperatures. When turned off it cools down in about 10 minutes or so.

It is equipped with patented Weber Flavorizer system which smokes the meat and adds flavor to it. The construction material used for the Flavorizer could have been a better one as it starts rusting quickly and a replacement costs a lot. An enamel coating could have done wonders to protect it. Also, due its design, the grease drips over it and it becomes messy.

The Weber Go Anywhere Gas Grill comes with a Weber cookbook as well. The meat cooks evenly and quite well and since it comes with an electronic ignition system and you don’t use charcoal, it doesn’t get messy so it is quite easy to clean the grill, making the maintenance effortless. Not only that, it is even cheaper to use than charcoal.

Though the base and lid are porcelain enameled to prevent them from rusting, it starts rusting after a few years and you get limited warranty with Weber Go Anywhere Gas Grill. Some people also seemed to have problem with the ignition system as the igniter went out in some cases, but it can easily be ignited using a matchstick. Plus, Weber’s excellent customer service makes it a non-issue.

People who buy the Weber Go Anywhere Gas Grill are almost always happy and satisfied with this sturdy grill and its price. It is highly rated and is one of the top 10 portable grills.

With its high portability, ease of cleaning, uniform cooking, fine finish and positive reviews, it makes for an ideal companion when going out to a beach or for hunting, camping and the like.
