Very difficult putting it together.
So it took me 6 hours and I absolutely love putting stuff together but was missing the heat shield luckily Walmart let me tear apart one in their store to get the heat shield out, but took awhile for me to figure out if there really was a part missing. The directions aren't so great the parts are not magnetic which means putting a screw on something and it sticking makes it extremely difficult to get a bolt in. I really really enjoy the girl and how it Cooks the meat and it does seem twice as juicy but the cleaning part may be difficult down the road. I'm using oil on the grates also. Luckily I decided to put this together in my living room as sitting outside for that money hours in the heat would not have worked out.Eric
Really rock solid grill
It is a very nice grill, it has infrared reflectors to stop the flare ups, and the cast iron grates are directly locked to the plates.
The grill comes with 182 pounds worth of parts, and no map of where the parts are, not even telling you if your looking for painted, black iron, or stainless parts.
It comes like one of those Russian dolls, boxes inside boxes, but no map as to what is in the box.
When you open all the boxes, and spread them out in your yard to assemble this grill, it gets pretty daunting.
Tomorrow, I have to remove the clamshell to install the heat shield, because an instruction page was missing.

The assembly is a two day job, or more if you go with the natural gas option.
So far I have 7 hours into it, there is a lot of parts, and you need to double check your work, because the instructions are fair, at best, but the grill is really nice
Everything was packed well, and the final frame is rock solid.
not like those flimsy big box store grills that fold up if you wheel them across the yard.BandAide14568
Disappointed
I bought this grill two and a half years ago. The infrared plates did provide even heat distribution across the whole top of the grill. I found two issues though. First, it was hard to know if the burners were actually lit because you can't see the flames because of the infrared plates. Secondly, the ignitor button works fine but the plastic ring holding it in place is really cheap and cracked and broke within a few months. The ignitor still works but it just hangs down from the wire. Thirdly, the plates are difficult to clean. You have to wash them after every time you grill them and the small hole clog up. You sendup having to clean each hole with a toothpick (That represents several hundred holes for all four plates. I just removed the plates and started using the grill in a traditional way. Finally, I've kept the grill on a covered porch since the day I brought it home. It sits 8-10 feet back against the wall away from the screen. It's never gotten wet, but the "stainless steel" parts are all rusting. I wish I'd gotten a traditional grill from another company. The quality just isn't up to standard.Disappointed in Orlando
Not made like hey use to be
Bought this grill 2 yrs ago and I'm already replacing parts. I have replaced the regulator and now have to replace the main burners and the infrared trays. I use my grill a lot in the summer, almost every day. I cover it after every use and clean it at least once a month. I owned a char broil prior to this with a cast iron firebox and it lasted right about 10 yrs. very disappointed with this one. Gonna have to try a Weber next I guess. Can't find anything char broil that is reasonable and built any different. I like the concept of the infrared trays but if you don't oil them every time you use them they rust and mine have already rusted through. I didn't oil every time but did oil them a lot. Just seems like a lot of work for not much difference in cooking. Also my thermometers on the outside have never worked. Doesn't matter what temp you set the grill on it registers 650 degrees F. Oh well live and learn.Katdheyn
Great Performance!
I owned a Char Broil grill since 2004 and it has performed superbly, with great warranty service when some items needed replacement, which you can expect with my level of usage over 13 years. Naturally I looked first, and last, at Char Broil and considered upgrading to the infrared model because of the claim of even heat distribution and a juicer outcome. Extensive internet research validated CB's claim so I sprung for this latest grilling "technology" and I am not disappointed. The only drawback from my old model is, because of the complete coverage of the infrared grills, there is an inability to confirm visually that the burners are lit. In all fairness these grills will protect the burners from being clogged by grease so there shouldn't be a problem. I am, also, able to confirm that the burner is lit because of the customary "swoosh" that accompanies ignition.GrandpaGoz
